Barack Obama’s Pastor Gate: Chapter Two

May 30, 2008

The continuing saga.

Obama to Michael Pfleger under the bus you go!
Obama’s statement.

Chicago Tribune
Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign on Thursday was forced to again apologize for the remarks of a Chicago pastor and friend backing his candidacy who spoke from the pulpit of Obama’s longtime South Side church.

In an Internet video recorded Sunday, Rev. Michael Pfleger, an outspoken activist Catholic priest, is seen mocking Sen. Hillary Clinton from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.[…]

[…]”As I have traveled this country, I’ve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that unites us,” Obama said in a statement. “That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric.”[…]

Yeah, yeah yeah. Yada…yada…yada. Obama most certainly is fully aware of what Pfleger is made of. Not if he were a passing acquaintance perhaps. But that is most assuredly not the case.

Michael Pfleger preaches a controversial sermon at Trinity United Church of Christ’s Pulpit, in a scathing accusation of “white supremacy” & “white entitlement” targeted at Hillary Clinton and “white people” in general.

Dear Lord Pfleger drips with “white guilt’. There are puddles forming under his feet as he speaks.

Pfleger, who practices black liberation theology, is a regular guest speaker at Trinity church. He was introduced at Sunday’s sermon by Obama’s new pastor, Rev. Otis Moss III, who called Pfleger a “brother beloved, he is a preacher par-excellence, he is a prophetic powerful pulpiteer.”

After Pfleger’s remarks about Clinton, Moss thanked Pfleger repeatedly.

Pfleger told the Trinity congregation, “We must be honest enough to expose white entitlement and supremacy wherever it raises its head.”

He continued: “Reverand Moss, when Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on, I really don’t believe it was put on. I really believe that she just always thought, ‘This is mine. I’m Bill’s wife. I’m white. And this is mine. I just got to get up and step into the plate.’

“And then out of nowhere came, hey, I’m Barack Obama. And she said, ‘Oh damn, where did you come from? I’m white. I’m entitled. There’s a black man stealing my show.'”[…]

In his sermon, Pfleger added, “She wasn’t the only one crying. There was a whole lot of white people cryin’.”

Apparently realizing his remarks might attract media attention, Pfleger stated, “I’m sorry. I don’t want to get you into any more trouble.”

Moss then took the stage, stating, “We thank God for the message, and we thank God for the messenger. We thank God for Father Michael Pfleger. We thank God for Father Mike.”

Moss assumed the leadership of Trinity earlier this month following the retirement of Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose controversial sermons have raised questions about Obama’s judgment and beliefs.

By the way, Obama in a April 2008 interview lauded praise on Rev. Otis Moss.

“Well, you know, the new pastor — the young pastor, Reverend Otis Moss, is a wonderful young pastor. And as I said, I still very much value the Trinity community. This — I’ll be honest, this obviously has put strains on that relationship, not because of the members or because of Reverend Moss but because this has become such a spectacle.”[…]

“So as of this point, I’m a member of Trinity”

Pfleger held a spot on Obama’s “People of Faith” page for some time endorsing Obama. As you can see here.

But alas as with Jeremiah Wright and the controversy which surrounded his bigoted preaching Michael Pfleger has also been tossed aside like yesterdays trash. Pun intended. All traces of his endorsement ‘scrubbed‘ from Barack Obama’s “People of Faith” page at “My Barack”.

One by one Barack Obama’s “moral compass” are falling down.

Since Jeremiah Wright and Michael Pfleger are (or is it ‘were’?) Barack Obama’s “moral compass’? Then what I ask does that say about Obama? Who does Barack Obama think he is fooling?

Not I.

Some people are reaching the conclusion that if Barack’s belief system was not in line with the church he’s attended for 20 years and his spiritual advisors, then he would have quit this church years ago. My friend is a rabid Obama fan. She traveled an hour and then waited five hours in line to see him. She is a broken-glass Democrat. Today she expressed serious doubts about BHO. I was shocked.
