Barack Obama – Raila Odinga

Pamela of Atlas Shrugs posts today that the AP is scrubbing their pages of references to Obama and Odinga his alleged Kenyan cuz. All this on the heels of Raila Odinga’s Washington visit.

Coincidence?

I searched for other references and imagine my delight when I found the AP article on My Barack Obama .com of all places.

Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has said he is a cousin of US presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Mr Odinga told the BBC’s The World Today that Senator Obama’s father was his maternal uncle.

The Kenyan leader made the statement in an interview in which he discussed foreign interest in the political turmoil in his country.

He said Mr Obama had on Monday taken time out of campaigning for the New Hampshire primary to call him twice, to express his concern, and to say that he would also be calling Mr Kibaki.

If you click on the audio link attached to above BBC article you can listen in to Odingo speaking about Barack Obama.

I can not verify the original source of this quote.

“–Odinga explained to another reporter that Obama would call him up to three times a day to check on the election in Kenya.

But have seen it as is on a handful of sites. Anyone know of the source?

obama-visit-africa.jpgAnd get a load of this. Raila Odinga “Agent of Change” (Odinga’s 2007 campaign slogan).

I am weary of the failures of old policies and tired men. Kenya is once again at the cross roads and a new society is struggling to be born. We are on the side of the future and the ODM is the only agent of change and hope.

In comparison to Obama.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

Obama says he’s agent of change, blasts Clinton

Sep 4, 2007

“Hope and change are not just the rhetoric of a campaign for me,” he said, adding that for others, politics seemed to be a game.

Empty rhetoric defending his empty rhetoric. Classic Obama.

Thrown in for good measure…

He also vowed to tell the truth always as president.

“You shouldn’t expect anything less from your president,” he said to loud cheers.

A leopard does not change his spots.

Additionally:
Some insight into Odinga’s treacherous mindset at CISA News

Persons in police custody on various charges connected with the 2007 post-election violence should be dealt with in accordance with the law, the Catholic Church said.

Politicians allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) wing of the Grand Coalition Government have been calling for release of the suspects who are facing charges including rape and murder.

ODM leader and Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the suspects were fighting for democracy following rigging of last year’s presidential election against him. They should be released unconditionally. But the Party of National Unity (PNU) side of government wants the cases heard and determined.

I have a vid up on the violent turmoil in Kenya here.

So if you site the AP article before they scrub it to support one political candidate over another, does that violate the fair use laws. When one peaks under the proverbial Obama rug, there is no telling what you’ll find – though there is even money that anything you find would completely disqualify any republican candidate for president. At any rate, linked. http://wolfhowling.blogspot.com/2008/06/interesting-posts-from-around-web-19.html

    Huffington Post:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lynn-sweet/kenya-turmoil-test-of-oba_b_79555.html

On foreign affairs, Obama argued that his judgment trumped his lack of resume.

He said his experience of living as a youth in Indonesia and having a blended family made him a figure who could reach out to the leaders of unfriendly Muslim nations, and therefore he was more qualified than chief rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Now Obama’s claim of personal diplomacy is being tested.

The arc of the moral universe Obama refers to so often — a line from the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. — now stretches from the United States to Kenya. What can he do — what will he do — that is more than the radio message for Voice of America’s Africa service he taped Wednesday, urging the Kenyans to stop the violence?

“Despite irregularities in the vote tabulation, now is not the time to throw that strong democracy away. Now is a time for President Kibaki, opposition leader Odinga, and all of Kenya’s leaders to call for calm, to come together, and to start a political process to address peacefully the controversies that divide them,” Obama said.

I saw how Kenyans adulated Obama. I met his half sister, Auma, who lives in Nairobi and who has been in Iowa campaigning for him.

I was there when Obama delivered a lecture on corruption intended for the ears of Kibaki, a member of the Kikuyu tribe.

I watched Odinga, a Luo, as was Obama’s father, hover when Obama got an AIDS test with wife, Michelle, and then be part of the welcoming ceremony the day Obama visited his father’s homestead.

As Kenya boiled, Obama reached out to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to discuss the situation. I’m told it was Obama’s idea to put out the statement.

I understand Obama has to be careful because while he is one of the most credible figures the United States has to deal with Kenya, the dispute between Odinga and Kibaki is mired in tribal politics. Obama, very aware that Kenyans may see him as a Luo in this context, does not want to be seen as taking sides.

But Obama’s claim of uniqueness is being offered as a reason he should be president.

Odinga is the first cousin of American Senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama through Senator Obama’s father, Obama Sr. belongs to the same Luo tribe as Odinga.

    TIME: Obama’s Other Life
    Posted by Joe Klein

One of the more extraordinary stories of the Obama campaign has been playing out behind the scenes over the past week as the candidate has been working on a daily basis to try to calm things down in his father’s homeland and his grandmother’s home, Kenya, where a contested election has led to riots.

On January 3, the day of the caucuses, he had a conversation with Bishop Desmond Tutu, who had flown to Nairobi to see if he could begin negotiations with the factions. In the days since his Iowa victory, Obama has had near-daily conversations with the U.S. Ambassador in Kenya or with opposition leader Raila Odinga. As of late this afternoon, before his rally in Rochester, N.H., Obama was trying to reach Kenyan President Kibaki.

in the midst of the most amazing week of his life, Barack Obama has found the time to do a some diplomatic scut-work. I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of this sort of thing if he wins the nomination and is elected President.

Eldoret – A Catholic bishop of one of the towns worst hit by the ethnic clashes sparked by Kenya’s political crisis charged on Tuesday that the attacks against President Mwai Kibaki’s Kikuyu people appeared well planned and organised.

Bishop Cornelius Korir spoke in western Eldoret, scene of a fiery massacre of Kikuyu that was part of violence that erupted after Kibaki was announced the winner of December 27 elections. Eldoret and surrounding areas had seen an exodus of Kikuyus since. The violence across the country had killed at least 500 people.

“The way the attacks were managed seems to me very organised,” Korir said as United States envoy Jendayi Frazer toured the region on Tuesday. “No, it did not seem spontaneous to me … It seems it was well planned.”

How do you find the time?
lol Just kidding. You are a treasure trove of info. I thank you for all you have done from posting info to responding to the various drive bys, trolls and Obamaniacs. You are a gem.

    Much obliged.

Obama contradicts himself on a constant basis. Consistent he is not. Someone I can not recall at the moment coined his constant flip flopping Obamarang, or something like that.
    How fitting.

There is nothing unique about Obama. This is the year 2008 being multi-racial is not rare.

As far as I am concerned Obama should not of stuck his nose into the fray of Kenyan politics. He may of thought it would bode him well at the time but like everything else it bit him in the ass.
Any fool (especially one so qualified in African Muslim diplomacy, heh) should of predicted a violent uprising from the losers side.

If he was not prepared to go all the way he should of stayed stayed out of it.

Politicians allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) wing of the Grand Coalition Government have been calling for release of the suspects who are facing charges including rape and murder.

ODM leader and Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the suspects were fighting for democracy [while gang raping women and girls & boys, among other violent criminal atrocities including burning victims alive, machete attacks and beheadings] following rigging of last year’s presidential election against him.

As to be expected a brilliant article by A Jacksonian

Odinga, Obama and the lack of courage

    A teaser.

The entire document is really quite an eye-opener, but the import of it is most chilling, considering the connections to Al Bakri and Kaddafy. Add that in with suspicious assassins at hand and one really does start to wonder just what is up with Raila Odinga.

A quick recap on Raila Odinga:

-Son of a former leader Oginga Odinga
-Utilizing a position of power to enrich his family business
-Utilizing a position of power to get contacts with a Saudi backer of al Qaeda
-Utilizing a position of power to get contacts with the Libyan leader Mohammar Gaddafy
-Utilizing a position of power to assure himself of petty luxuries, junkets and spending time with the rich and powerful across the globe
-Seeking to influence the constitutional drafting committee to ensure that the Prime Minister under the revised constitution will be more powerful than the President
-Feeling “owed” the Prime Minister’s position
-Signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Muslim population (roughly 10% of Kenyan’s are Muslim) to shift Kenya towards Islam and becoming an Islamic state.
-Utilizing his contacts to bring in political advisor Dick Morris
-And close association with US Senator Barack Obama

So, to sum it up: Mr. Odinga feels ‘entitled’ to be Prime Minister of Kenya so as to turn it into a Sharia law following Islamic State.

Hellooooooo Barack what have you to say?????

Obama campaigned for Odinga in 2006

No he didn’t and that lie has been debunked countless times.

Shows Obama advocating freedom of the press and criticising the corruption of the Kibaki government, which has been well-documented, and widely criticised. Ooh, controversial.

Why on Earth is a US Senator interfering in Kenyan elections.

    He didn’t.

    Oh, tribal politics.

Obama and Odinga are descended from the same tribe. That is the only connection between them. That’s all you’ve got. Lulz.

Or as the Kenyan official says, “Obama is Odinga’s stooge.”

Yes, the representative of President Kibaki, a corrupt demagogue who (according to both international observers and the US government) stole the Kenyan presidential election last December.

Funny how Obama supported Odinga and criticized his enemy tribe’s corruption.

He criticised the corruption of President Kibaki and his government. Again, that’s the well-documented, widely-criticised corruption of the Kibaki administration.

Then Odinga’s Luo supporters burned churches etc.

    Which Odinga condemned.

Now is there less corruption in Kenya?
    NO!

    Is Kibaki still President? YES!

So what did the big African statesman achieve with his foray into tribal politics?
    Nothing

But since there wasn’t any “foray into tribal politics” on Obama’s part that’s not terribly surprising, is it?

    2. Odinga “recognizes Islam as the only true religion” and pledges that as president he would give Muslims power to oversee all other religions, install Sharia, dismiss the police chief who is owned by the Zionists, stop deporting Kenyans to the USA, “popularize Islam”, not deport any Muslims anywhere, ban alcohol, ban Gospel broadcasts, etc etc

    AMERICANS ARE SO NAIVE

Certainly the ones who believes those lies about Odinga, which were proved to be a smear campaign by Kibaki’s people SIX MONTHS AGO.

And that’s it. All you have to throw against Obama is naked lies and desperate fantasies. And in your desperation to do away with Obama you’ve also smeared Odinga and championed Kibaki, the man who wants to do to Kenya what Mugabe has done to Zimbabwe. I’d say how embarrassing this must be for you, but I suspect you’ve no shame left.

  16. July 16, 2008 12:23 pm

Then Odinga’s Luo supporters burned churches etc.

    Which Odinga condemned.

    Pay attention will you.

Obama and Odinga are descended from the same tribe. That is the only connection between them. That’s all you’ve got. Lulz.

Not according to Odinga. Hash it out with him.
Mmmkay… I did not pull it out from thin air. He stated his family ties with Obama in a BBC interview. Now if he was lying then as I have said hash it out with Odinga they are his words.

Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has said he is a cousin of US presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Mr Odinga told the BBC’s The World Today that Senator Obama’s father was his maternal uncle.

All you have to throw against Obama is naked lies and desperate fantasies.

To the contrary. All I have to throw against Obama are his naked lies and desperate fantasies. For that I thank him. 😀 He is the gift that keeps on giving.

And in your desperation to do away with Obama you’ve also smeared Odinga and championed Kibaki, the man who wants to do to Kenya what Mugabe has done to Zimbabwe. I’d say how embarrassing this must be for you, but I suspect you’ve no shame left.

LULZ Do you really think I care?
On the other hand any American who supports or defends Obama should be ashamed.

    KMA
