Allah Aboard the Jihad Train [Updated]

July 21, 2008

R adical Imam Siraj Wahhaj & the Islamic Circle of North America
are the ringleaders behind this latest Islamic propaganda.

Fancy that.

The catch phrase, “You Deserve to Know” I agree “you do deserve to know” – the truth

Muslim Subway Ads Have Terror Tie-In

Allah board!

Siraj Wahhaj

An Islamic group plans to blitz 1,000 subway cars with advertisements this September in a campaign being promoted by a Brooklyn imam whom federal officials have linked to a plot to blow up city landmarks.

siraj-wahaj-newyorkpost.jpg The group says its mission is to explain the true nature of Islam to non-Muslims who believe the religion is bent on acts of violence – but Siraj Wahhaj, the inflammatory imam who appears in a promotional YouTube video for the project, has defended convicted bomb-plotters and called the FBI and CIA the “real terrorists.

The stark, black-and-white ads of the Subway Project promote Islam with the goals of clearing up long-held misconceptions about the faith and reaching out to those interested in becoming Muslim, according to the Islamic Circle of North America, the group behind the campaign.

Timed to run during the month of Ramadan, the ads come in pairs, reading “Q: Prophet Muhammad?” or “Q: Islam?” and the corresponding answer is always “A: You deserve to know.”

“Anyone who looks at this ad objectively can see that it is not preaching anything,” Azeem Khan, the group’s assistant secretary general, told The Post. “There is a lot of Islamaphobia out there. We provide people with a chance to speak with an actual Muslim who is informed.”

The MTA confirmed that the group has signed a contract for the ad campaign but would not comment further.

Comment by Hugh @ Jihad Watch

A million little stickers ought to be printed up with such remarks as Siraj Wahhajh’s “In time, this so-called democracy will crumble, and there will be nothing, and the only thing that will remain will be Islam” and other remarks, equally enlightening, by Awad and other CAIR officials, about Islam not being here to be “the equal” of anything else. Distribute those little stickers, and let them be plastered all over those subway ads, by way of retort.

Oh, and it might be fun to have another million little stickers with, say, Qur’an 9.5 and 9.29, also suitable for placing over the Da’wa campaign posters in the subway.

Sounds fair and balanced to me.

In a 1991 speech before the Islamic Association of North Texas, Wahhaj a/k/a “Jeffrey 12X” (from his Nation of Islam days) called Operation Desert Storm, “one of the most diabolical plots ever in the annals of history” and predicted that America will fall unless it “accepts the Islamic agenda.”

Apparently the ninja’s guarding Wahhaj’s mosque Masjid At-Taqwa are camera shy…

[…]If you tarry in front of the Masjid At-Taqwa in the Bedford-Stuyvesant district and dare to take a photo, you might get hauled away by a group of angry Muslims in Islamic attire to the basement of the facility where a group of twenty “security guards” in karate suits will interrogate you.

The experience was disconcerting. Surely, anyone who takes a picture of St. Patrick’s Cathedral or the Riverside Church is not hauled off to a basement for questioning by a threatening figure in a karate uniform and a band of Ninjas.

What is taking place within Masjid At-Taqwa?

And what about Siraj Wahaj, the celebrated imam of this mosque who claims to be a moderate? […]

[…] In September 1991, Wahaj stated the following:

“…And he [Allah] declared ‘Whoever is at war with my friends, I declare war on them.’ Who is a friend of Allah? [He chants a passage in Arabic] Allah. Your true friend is Allah, the messenger, and those who believe. Americans and Canadians. Hear it well. Hear what I’m telling you well. The Americans are not your friends, hear what I’m telling you, hear it well. The Canadians are not your friends, hear what I’m telling you, hear it well. The Europeans are not your friends. Your friend is Allah, the Messenger and those who believe. These people will never be satisfied with you until you follow their religion. They will never be satisfied with you…”[1][9]

The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) was founded in 1971, via the Muslim Students Association (MSA), as an umbrella group for South Asian-oriented mosques and Islamic centers. It also contains a youth division called Young Muslims (YM), a multimedia division called Sound Vision, a web information center called Why Islam, a magazine called The Message International, and charities which go by the names ICNA Relief and Helping Hand.

When ICNA was created, it was to act as the American counterpart to the Muslim Brotherhood of Pakistan, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). Indeed, if one looks at the web domain information for ICNA’s official website (as well as the site for Why Islam), he/she will find that the site is registered to, a former mirror (replica) site of JI’s media division. Today, is being used to showcase the works of Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Islahi, a Jamaat leader.

Further evidence of the connection between ICNA and JI is found in a July 2000 “Unity Meeting” that took place in New York between ICNA and its Baltimore-based rival, Jamaat al-Muslimeen. [pdf] Speaking for the side of ICNA, in his native language of Urdu, was none other than the President (Amir) of JI, Qazi Hussain Ahmad (who is still the head of JI). During the meeting, he stressed the need for “participation in Jihad;” he stated that “Islam must be translated into political dominance;” and he said that “the sword and the Quran go together…” His sharp rhetoric was not unusual, given his public support for the Taliban and his numerous get-togethers with Osama bin Laden.

While Ahmad’s communication with the head of Al-Qaeda is serious, his organization’s dealings with Hamas are much more damning. And ICNA’s involvement in this is apparent, as well. […]

NEW YORK (CNN) — Ads promoting Islam are to be placed on New York subway cars in September, but a U.S. congressman finds people sponsoring the messages unacceptable.

“I have no problem with the ad itself, but I have a very, very real problem with those behind it,” Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican, said Tuesday. He is urging the Metropolitan Transit Authority to reject the ads.

But King, noting that the ads would be up during the seventh anniversary of the September 11 attacks, said, “I’m calling on the MTA not to have these ads, not to go forward with them, and I don’t see this as a free speech issue at all.”

King said he sent a letter to the MTA on Monday night demanding that it reject the ads.[…]

Have the authorities in NYC bothered to speak with Steve Emerson or to see his 1995 film Jihad In America?

Why is Siraj Wahhaj even allowed to spread his Wahhabism?

On July 21st, 2008 When asked about the inclusion of Imam Siraj Wahhaj on the list of 170 unindicted co-conspirators Former US federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said on CNNs situation room “I think the list is probably an interesting footnote to people. I get asked about it every couple of years when some story or another about Wahhaj comes up. I think the list is a tempest in a teapot.”

Tempest in a teapot means “a situation where people get very angry or worried about something that is not important” (According to idioms.Thefreedictionary.Com)

    I’m guessing …no.

Aaron Donovan, spokesman for the state Metropolitan Transportation Authority, confirmed to that the Islamic Circle had signed a contract to run the ads on 1,000 subway cars during the month of Ramadan.

When asked if the MTA knew of Wahhaj’s background before signing the contract, Donovan declined to comment on the imam specifically.

“As part of the process, we review the ad and go to the Web site to make sure there is no inappropriate content and decided in this case there was not,” he said.

I am aware of what Tempest in a teapot means, thank you very much.

Try this definition on for size.

    About ICNA Goal & Program
    Thursday, 01 December 2005
The goal of ICNA shall be to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) through the struggle of Iqamat-ud-Deen (establishment of the Islamic system of life as spelled out in the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
