Once freedom of speech and open debate is taken away. The nation will then fear the government. Or suffer the consequences….

Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

Filling in the blanks…

Obamination: Obama Supporters Bob McCulloch, Jennifer Joyce Threaten to Prosecute People For Criticizing Obama – St. Louis CofCC Blog

KMOV Channel 4’s TV newscast night before last at 6 PM had a story, that stated that St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch and St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, both Obama supporters, are implying that they will bring criminal libel charges against anyone who levels what turns out to be false criticisms of their chosen candidate for President.

[…]

Also, there seems to be retort to this story, that neither Joyce nor McCulloch actually said they’re going to sue or prosecute anyone. I’m sure we’ll hear that defense in the days to come, especially if Catherine Hanwaway gets interested. The trouble with that defense is, the KMOV video shows one of those two saying that they’re going to “take action.” Now, how else do cops and prosecutors “take action” on something? If prosecutors and cops got together and said they’re going to “take action” on meth labs, do you think this means they’re going to picket in front of meth trailers? Write letters to the editor of the P-D about the dangers of meth? No, it means they’re going to ride in cowboy into the meth trailers, turn tables upside down, put people in handcuffs, take them to the Graybar Hotel, and hopefully keep them there for quite awhile.

The implication is very clear.

Check this out. In case you missed out, and you very well may have since it was not reported.
Or posted on Obama’s website.
And scrubbed from published transcripts.
If you blinked you would of missed out entirely.
It fits right in with the running theme of his post.
In a round about way.

Obama Civilian Security @YouTube

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the US Military.

– Barack Obama Colorado Springs July 2nd 2008

Are the media airbrushing Obama’s speeches? – Hot Air

Obama needs to clarify what he means by “civilian national security force”, and how it would be funded. After all, we have a panoply of federal security agencies already: FBI, BATF, DEA, and more, plus the National Guard on the state level. Where would Obama get the money to fund it at the same level as the Pentagon? What would its mission be, and where would it get its authority? What would be the lines of jurisdiction?

All of these questions need to be answered — but first the media has to find its objectivity and start asking about the speech and report it correctly. Obviously the Obama campaign provided them with an advance copy for the event, and just as obviously Obama deviated from it. Aren’t any journalists curious as to why?

Update: Doesn’t this statement conflict with Obama’s statement about ICE?

There is a disturbing pattern forming…

If enough people went to Misssouri, made statements the nasty little petty tyrants didn’t like and all got arrested, they could own MO!!

The worm may turn, MacRanger posts this news.

I’m told that the DOJ will be looking into (most likely referring to the FBI) this as a possible civil rights violation as well as violation of free speech. Specifically St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, could face individual jeopardy for misuse of office.

    Round ’em up!
