"Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed" - Michelle Obama Feb 2008

The Senate version of HR1388 The GIVE Act passed this afternoon 79-19. A bill entitled “The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, an Act to reauthorize and reform the national service laws.” I previously reported in detail on this outrage here.

Fox

The Senate voted 78-20 to increase AmeriCorps to 250,000 from its current 75,000 positions. The legislation is expected to cost $6 billion over five years.

Six BILLION! During a recession. Brilliant move. What a bunch of mental incompetents. Term limits —Hellooooo. Though the money to be spent on this boondoggle is the least of our worries.

Check this out! A piece that fell under my radar, Kate at Blatherings caught it. Although it may be to late…to matter.

SEC. 122. NATIONAL SERVICE PROGRAMS ELIGIBLE FOR PROGRAM ASSISTANCE.

‘(a) Required National Service Corps- The recipient of a grant under section 121(a) and each Federal agency operating or supporting a national service program under section 121(b) shall, directly or through grants or subgrants to other entities, carry out or support the following national service corps, as full- or part-time corps, including during the summer months, to address unmet educational, health, veteran, or environmental needs.

Under that section:

(iv) improving school climate;

Improving school climate –How? Thermostat monitor? What could that possibly mean?

Under: `PART III–INNOVATIVE DEMONSTRATION SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH

`SEC. 120. INNOVATIVE DEMONSTRATION SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH.

I found this piece last week and it still stands.

`(B) service-learning is a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.

I repeat. Imagine what children will be taught through MANDATORY “service-based learning” Indoctrination of leftist ideology, that’s what. Brain washed and then going home to conservative freedom loving parents. That ought to cause major tension. And those same parents will be paying for their grief with their hard earned tax dollars. Home schooling is an option (for now) till the gov takes away that right. Don’t kid yourselves they have already considered it behind closed doors I am sure.

Oh goody! Uniforms are still part of the package for “National Civilian Community Corps” members:

SEC. 1508. AUTHORIZED BENEFITS FOR CORPS MEMBERS.

(B) in paragraph (6), by striking `Clothing’ and inserting `Uniforms’; and

(C) in paragraph (7), by striking `Recreational services and supplies’ and inserting `Supplies’.

And how does this strike you? They have even HIGHJACKED 9/11!! There are 364 other days in the year why 9/11?! Unacceptable!

Authorizes the Corporation to treat September 11th annually as a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Congressional Commission on Civic Service Act – Establishes a Congressional Commission on Civic Service to provide recommendations to Congress on improving opportunities for individuals to volunteer or perform national service.

Volunteer or perform? So does that mean perform is the opposite of volunteer? As in mandatory?

Ruling by a Radical – Melanie Phillips

I have written before – here and here — about the way in which the First Community Organiser was assembling a permanent force from among the American public to act as a potential means of subverting the American Constitution. As I wrote here, straight after he was elected President Obama launched Organising for America, a  formal infrastructure of activism built upon his campaign’s extensive database of supporters. This was ostensibly all about encouraging the public to tell Obama about the issues that concerned them. I wrote then:

[snip]

And now just look at what some of the Organising for America cadres were saying on the streets of Birmingham, Alabama:

‘We’re looking for supporters,’ said DeHaven of Hoover, one of the event’s organizers. ‘We’re not looking for a fight. That will come later, when we have an army.’

Two months in – and it’s all there, folks, for those with eyes to see.

Emphasis mine — Read it all.

Good point The O Admin does not care. It is an attempt to indoctrinate kids with leftist ideology. As if there is not enough of that already in the public school system.
